The Batticaloa Lagoon runs along Kattankudy’s western edge, part of the 1.33 km² of inland waterways that shape the town’s geography. The calm waters and shoreline views make the lagoon a natural home for recreation.
On its banks, the Urban Council has developed a Lagoon Park with entertainment boat services to promote tourism and recreation — from eco dining and eco safaris to party boats. The four services are covered in detail on the Boat Services page.
