The Kattankudy Meera Jumma Mosque is considered an important place that reflects the history of the town. On 3 August 1990, while people were engaged in night prayers, 103 worshippers were shot and killed by the LTTE.
Today, the mosque has become one of the places visited as a historical and tourist site — standing as both a living place of worship and a memorial to those who died.
A place of remembrance
This page commemorates the worshippers who lost their lives here on 3 August 1990. The mosque is today visited as a historical site, and visitors are warmly welcomed.
