Kattankudy Beach

A popular coastal attraction on Sri Lanka's east coast — a long sandy shoreline and peaceful atmosphere close to Batticaloa, kept pristine by the Beach Tech cleaning machine.

Kattankudy Beach is a popular coastal attraction near the town of Kattankudy in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, close to Batticaloa. It is known for its long sandy shoreline and peaceful atmosphere.

The shoreline looks east over the Bay of Bengal — the same waters that border the town’s eastern edge. To keep the beach pristine for the growing number of visitors, the Urban Council deploys the Beach Tech cleaning machine, which clears the sand at a scale manual labour could not achieve. It is part of the same environmental effort behind the town’s solid waste management system.

The introduction of the Beach Tech machine successfully addresses the key issue of beach clearing where manual labour failed — a pristine coastline ready for high-volume tourism.
